BROADEN YOUR CULINARY CHOPS - Where You Can Learn to Cook in Middle Tennessee

Want to learn to cook, but don't know where to start? From classes in restaurants to workshops at home, there are many ways for you to pick up tricks of the trade. Consider these classes if you want to meet new people or spend some quality time with friends or family.


The Chef & I on Ninth

Delicious dishes are about more than recipes; they are about techniques. In our classes students will work together to create three dishes. Each student will get a generous taste of each dish made. The chef will be there to answer any questions you may have about creating the perfect dish. Each student will receive a recipe notebook, details about each dish and chef tips.


Paulette Licitra cooks, sings, and paints. She completed her professional culinary studies at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) in NYC and cooked in Mario Batali’s restaurant Lupa. Paulette has traveled extensively in Italy for culinary research, and studied with home cooks in Lazio, Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Lombardia, Campania, and the Veneto. She brings small groups to Italy every year to tour, cook, and explore Italian culture. She teaches Italian cooking classes in Nashville and cooks frequently on Channel 4 WSMV’s Today in Nashville.

Cooking School. Join us for demonstration, hands-on cooking, and wine classes, led by our own in-store instructors as well as some of the area's most exciting chefs, artisans and authors. Our instructional kitchen, located on the 2nd floor Whole Foods Market Green Hills offers affordable, recreational culinary education for all ages.

We send out an email newsletter to keep you  updated on upcoming classes, plus lots of recipes & cooking tips. Our newsletter is definitely a fun read for cooks & chefs alike!

Join us for a culinary experience in a hands-on Cooking Class at The Curious Kitchen! We welcome everyone, regardless of skill level, to enjoy a fun & delicious three hour cooking class. The first part of a cooking class at The Curious Kitchen takes place around our custom-built instructional table, providing optimum view of the chef/instructor. Each guest is equipped with their own cutting board, cooking station and “mise en place” (French for prep). Our classes can hold up to 16 participants, to ensure a quality experience. After the meal is prepared, guests sit down to enjoy the food they’ve made!

Our cooking class calendar has something for everyone! From Baking 101 to Sushi Rolling and Fresh Pasta Making to Date Night Cooking Classes… we offer classes for adults, kids and the whole family. We even have a Beginner Series, for the novice.

Parents – all of our Kids Classes are drop-off. You are welcome to pick up your kids 15 minutes before the end of the class if you’d like to sample some food that’s been prepared! We do have Family Cooking Classes, for those of you that would like to take a class together.

The Curious Kitchen provides all ingredients, supplies, aprons and equipment needed for each class. Classes are $65/adult and $50/child.

Cooking Class with Chef Maneet Chauhan

During this unique one-on-one experience with Chef Maneet, students will be divided into small groups to prepare one of multiple courses. After the cooking is complete, the class will be seated for lunch to enjoy the fruits of their labor along with wine pairings. Each student will receive a packet of the recipes so you can try them at home!

Limited spots are available. This is a 21+ event. Tax and gratuity are included in the price of the ticket.

Making Nourishing Herbal Broths with Sara Schuster, Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM (CST)

Want to nourish your household with delicious herbal broths? Come learn how to make a variety of broths in a range of flavor profiles that will have you coming back for seconds. We’ll discuss the benefits of incorporating different herbs and mushrooms into your broths and what exactly each of those additions can bring to the table. We’ll be sampling a range of broths as we go, discussing how to get satisfying flavor combinations, and also different ways to utilize these broths in our cooking (soups are great, but we can do so much more too!). You’ll go home with a packet of info and recipes from class, as well as an herb bundle for making your first herbal broth on your own. $20 Pre-registration is required. Please note that all of the broths we’ll be sampling during class will be plant based and gluten free. If you have additional allergies or dietary restrictions, please contact Sara at least two weeks before the class. She will do her best to accommodate your needs provided she has enough notice to adjust recipes. About the instructor: Sara Schuster is an herbalist, homesteader, and medicinal plant farmer growing on thirteen acres of land in middle Tennessee. Learning from a Legend | A cooking class with Deb Paquette

In celebration of Deb‘s 40th year of cooking, we’re hosting a series of cooking classes at etc. restaurant in Green Hills. We invite you to learn the secrets to Deb‘s illustrious cuisine through approachable techniques that can be duplicated at home. Chef Deb will lead the intimate class with a step-by-step tutorial and hands-on course in the kitchen. Following preparation, attendees will take a seat in the dining room to enjoy the lunch you have prepared, along with a tutorial on how to make the perfectly paired cocktail with your meal!

Space is limited to maximize one-on-one time with Deb in our cozy kitchen. Each class will feature a different menu and cocktail combination, so each installment of the series brings a whole new experience. Guests will be given recipes for the meal you prepare in each class to replicate at home.

The ticket price includes a cocktail, lunch, and tax. Tickets for future classes will be opened following each course. Please notify us via email at etc@etc.restaurant in advance of any dietary restrictions. This is a 21+ event.
