You have a new single “Nowhere With You,” climbing the Music Row and Billboard Indicator charts. Can you tell us a little more about that song for new fans that may have not heard it yet? It’s a happy summer love song about a couple in love and all the fun memories they are making.
You also just kicked off your “Great To Meet Ya,” tour. Is there anywhere you are excited to go or return to? I'm pretty excited to be headlining a few festivals in my home state of MN this summer and I'm really looking forward to headlining two shows at Sturgis in South Dakota in August. Those we be fun shows!
Where haven’t you played that’s on your bucket list? I would love to play Red Rock!
Did you always want to be a musician or was there a specific moment that something happened that made you think "this is what I want to do with my life." If so, what was it? Music has always been in every ounce of the fiber that makes me up. It’s like breathing to me. My friends laugh because I always have my earbuds in listening to music.
What has been your greatest challenge in music business? Just relaxing into the music and letting things happen in the time they are supposed to happen and not putting anything on a timetable. I have to check out of that a little bit - especially with my type A personality I have at times. haha!
How has Nashville influenced your music? I wouldn’t say it has influenced me as much as it has inspired me. It is amazing to be around such talented artists and let their music touch that place deep down inside with a great guitar lick or fill on the drums. I'm so grateful to be surrounded by that all the time.
What are some of your favorite Nashville restaurants? I love Biscuit Love for breakfast. Those darn donuts are crazy good!!
If someone is coming to Nashville for the first time, where do you take them? Johnny Cash Museum and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. If they are there on a Monday, I'll always take them to Time Jumpers and 3rd & Lindsley to listen to Vince Gill and his gang.
Do you plan on catching any shows while here at CMA Fest? I’ll be running around supporting my friends that are out playing when not at my own shows and interviews.
Any last words for our readers and your fans? How do they connect with you? I loooove hearing from my fans although I hate calling them my fans. Every fan I've met so far feels more like a friend, so I prefer to call them that. A lot of my friends reach out to me on social media or on my website at davemcelroy.com. Thanks for asking.
