Hit Singer/Songwriter, CJ Solar, Shares Excitement Over Upcoming Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam Performance

What are you looking forward to most playing the Gulf Coast Jam? Getting on such a big stage and playing the same day as my favorite band ever Lynyrd Skynyrd!!

What song are you most excited for old and new fans to hear? I’m most excited to play a song I wrote for Morgan Wallen a few years ago called “Up Down” because I know it's gonna get the crowd going!

There are also a lot of other great artists playing the festival. Is there anyone you’re really impressed with? I mentioned Lynyrd Skynyrd being my favorite band ever but I'm a big Joe Nichols fan and am buddies with Jon Langston and Frank Ray playing the same day as us so excited to share the stage with them all!!

Since we are hanging out on the gulf coast of Florida, do you plan on getting any seafood while you are here? Of course! Growing up in Louisiana, gulf coast seafood is one of my favorite things ever!

What would you say is your favorite festival food? And/or favorite food that is deep fried? I’m a sucker for a funnel cake… which I guess is fried ,but fried shrimp for Florida are a must!

When you're on tour, do you have time to play tourist? We normally don’t have a whole lot of free time while on tour but were going to come down a few days early to enjoy the beach before the show!

Southerners know good cookin’. What should every Southern kitchen be stocked with? Tony’s Seasoning!

You’ve accomplished so much already. Any other bucket list items you are eager to check off? Been very lucky to check a bunch off the bucket list but upgrading to a tour bus over the sprinter van will be the coolest thing yet when that happens!

Any new music coming soon? Got a whole record in the works that’ll be out later this year!

What excites you most about the Nashville music scene right now? So many new artist really pushing the genre in so many different directions is really inspiring as a writer!

Is there anything coming up for you that you’d like to share? Just excited for this new record and for shows to be coming back!!

About CJ Solar:

His vocals, songwriting and rousing stage performances have him turning heads in Nashville, his hometown of Baton Rouge and beyond. His three EPs have yielded the Top 15 hits “American Girls,” “Airplane” and “Watered Down Whiskey” and the Top 10 smash “Coming My Way.” The chart success led to CJ being named “Independent Artist of the Year” at the 2019 Annual MusicRow CountryBreakout Awards ceremony and being nominated for “Breakthrough Artist-Writer” at the 2019 MusicRow Awards.

In addition for opening for acts like Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, Hank Williams Jr., Chris Janson, Gary Allan and others, he made his Grand Ole Opry debut on September 7, 2019. The appearance held special significance to CJ. At the age of 12, he, his parents and two brothers attended an Opry show while on a family trip to Nashville. Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton performed that night, and CJ made the quality decision that very night to follow in their footsteps.

As a songwriter, CJ co-wrote Morgan Wallen’s “Up Down” and Jameson Rodgers’ “Some Girls,” both of which hit #1 on the country charts. “Up Down” garnered CJ an ASCAP Award and the Nashville Songwriters Award for “10 Songs I Wish I’d Written.” He also co-wrote Jason Aldean’s “I Don’t Drink Anymore,” Jerrod Niemann’s Top 30 single “Blue Bandana” and “The Regulars” and Justin Moore’s “Between You & Me.”
