Interview: Bryan Haraway Talks Upcoming American Roots Hoedown Performance @ The 5 Spot in Nashville

Thank you so much for talking with us Bryan, What are you looking forward to most playing the Magnolia Roads American Roots Hoedown IV?

I love festivals and Emily at Magnonlia Roads does them right! And I'm a big fan of Bonnie Blue and Jeff Mix. Jeff's shows are great and his guitar player burns the house down.

A portion of the proceeds from the show will be donated to the Ben Eyestone Fund at Music Health Alliance. What does that mean to you to give back?

I am 100% aware that every time I step onstage I am standing on the shoulders of giants. The musicians that came before me showed me how (even if they didn't know it) to play, perform, write...etc. So having a part in helping with medical for those players in need is a no brainer for me, and I know Ben's story and it breaks my heart.

What song are you most excited for old and new fans to hear?

I'm very excited about my first single, "We Get High," off my new self-titled album (out June 7!). The single an be heard at www.bryanharaway.com. Also, “Lucia" and "Sleep Well," “Moonlighting," "My Song,”  "Jenny"….ha!  They're all my babies and I'm a proud papa!

Tell us about your new self-titled album that is coming out June 7th.

I had an angel on my shoulder that directed me to (Grammy winning) producer Chad Brown. He put together a group (Doug Lancio, Larry Hanson, Jim Hoke, Russ Paul, Gage Reubin, Chris Avery, and others) and we really took the songs to the next level. It's such a gift to work with talent like that, and not just for their playing prowess, but the lessons I learn from being around true pros.

Are fans going to be able to meet and talk with you after the performance?

Of Course! I am so approachable.  Come on over and say hi.

Ok, now for some food questions... After playing a late show, what is your guilty pleasure food?

If this was ten years ago I'd say "Vodka"...ha! But these days it's a thin crust pepperoni pizza. Yumma Yumma! Then food Coma :)

What are some of your favorite places to eat in Vegas?

Where to start...I loves me some food :)  Paymons Mediterranean for dolmas/hummus/gyros.  The Pit Stop in Boulder City (that's just outside of Vegas) has my favorite burger. And for the cold days (yes we have 1 or 2) Pho Siagon 8. The best pho in town. I love to go there and get Ph'd up :)

Anywhere you are looking forward to going while in NashVegas?

For sure I am going to The Grand Ole Opry House and the Jack Daniels Distillery. I'm putting in a couple of extra days to see some historical sites.  My mom is a writer and a huge Civil War buff/historian, so she has an itinerary for me...but who knows where I'll end up after the Jack Daniels tour :) Maybe I should do her list first.

Favorite food that comes in a can?

Mandarin oranges...but they must be chilled and served with whipped cream that's been in the freezer overnight. Is that too diva? lol

One junk food you know you could never give up?

The gooey Hostess mini-cherry pie. Every time there is a box of those is in my house, a ghost shows up that disappears my pies and makes me fatter. I should do an exorcism, but who has the time.

If you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why?

A beer sponsorship would be great! Can you imagine how many new friends I'd have! The only way I'd get more friends is if I was sponsored by Willie's weed company. But then again those friends would eat all my cherry pies.

Any last words for our readers and your fans? How do they connect with you?

I am a reader and a fan, and if I'm doing my job right the people will get that my music is by us, for us, and I'm just trying to spread a little love in the world.   I can be found at: www.instagram.com/bryanharaway www.bryanharaway.com facebook.com/harawaymusic   I have a lot of fun with my Instagram, so come check it out.
