Interview:Country-Pop Artist, Lauren Davidson, Shares New Song "Live Laugh Love" and Cocktail Recipe

Country-Pop Artist, Lauren Davidson, just released her new single, “LIVE LAUGH LOVE," TODAY!! The song was co-produced by Grammy Award Nominee Bart Migal (Bjork, Jessica Simpson) and Cristian Camilo Castro (Musical Director, Guitarist, and co-writer with Davidson). To celebrate we chatted with Lauren and got her recipe for the perfect cocktail, "Live Laugh Love-a-Rita."

Good Afternoon ! Thank you so much for talking with us! When and how did your passion for music start?

Hi! Thank YOU! I discovered my passion for singing at a very young age. I could sing before I could speak, but it wasn’t until about five years ago that I discovered my passion for songwriting and that’s really when I feel like this journey truly began.

Was there a defining moment when you decided to really chase your dreams?

I always wanted to be on stage. I started performing in the theatre when I was ten, but I feel like it took a shift at becoming “real” so to speak when I started auditioning for colleges. I went to college for musical theatre and after I graduated started singing with bands and really formed a special bond with musicians. It led me here to songwriting and performing with my own band.

You are releasing your new single "LIVE LAUGH LOVE" on May 17. What’s the story behind it?

"Live Laugh Love" is the story of a girl who’s not being treated well by her man and it’s her turning point of finding her strength. “I'm gonna love laugh love and leave ya." It’s her revenge song.

If you could join any past or current music group which would you want to join?

Past group would be Fleetwood Mac, because I’m obsessed and current would be Little Big Town. Both have amazing vocals and harmonies.

Live Laugh Love-a-Rita

1.5 oz Dulce Vida Blanco Tequila

.75 oz Naranja Orange Liqueur

.5 oz Lime Juice

Salt optional

What does your cooking playlist look like?

Music for me changes with my mood, but my ideal playlist would have a little Maren Morris, a little Grace Potter and a little Fleetwood Mac. Music that makes me feel good.

Do you cook? If so, What is your favorite dish to cook?

I do like to cook, but I unfortunately don’t get to do it as much as I would like since I’m often on the go! When I’m cooking I try to eat healthy and mostly vegetarian. I love lettuce wrap tacos or guilty pleasure eggplant Parmesan.

Is there an ingredient you are really enjoying cooking with at the moment?

Give me all the garlic - cloves of powder, it doesn’t matter.

What three things can you always find in your home refrigerator?

Coffee - I’m iced coffee obsessed and always have a pot ready to go Avocado - yum! Lemon

What is your guilty pleasure food?

Besides eggplant Parmesan - Tacos and queso! ((And chocolate))

Is there anything you just will not eat?

I’m not very picky, but I do not like bananas. I was allergic as a kid and the smell and texture just isn’t for me. Also sardines just gross me out.

If you designed your own walking food tour of Nashville, which restaurants/food sellers would be on your list of places to visit?

This is a funny question for me- so I don’t live in Nashville I live in NYC, but I am in Nashville often. Still for some reason I never eat at the traditional Nashville places and I eat a ton of Mexican food- don’t ask me why but it’s just soooo good! Some of my favorites- Taco Mamacita is a must, Acme feed and seed has a sushi bar upstairs that is a hidden gem and I love both Barcelona wine bar and Tavern. None of these are your typical Nashville southern food spots but my favorites for sure!

What's good in NYC?

I don’t get out much to eat in NYC since I try to cook when I’m home, but NYC obviously has the best pizza..... and bagels. Also every time I’m downtown I have to stop at San Loco for tacos. It’s a little hole in the well but sooo good!

What excites you most about the Nashville music scene right now?

The versatility and just that fact that anywhere you go on any night of the week you’re going to be blessed with the most amazing talent. It’s ridiculously inspiring.

Finally, if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why?

Only one?! Darn! Haha I’m on big tequila kick right now and Dulce Vida Tequila has been very good to me and my music! Check out my favorite cocktail recipe using their organic blanco tequila.

LIVE LAUGH LOVE was co-penned with Castro and Nebraskan songwriter Jason Hamor. Davidson’s music pulls from the pop singer-songwriter genre, while also incorporating elements of contemporary country and rock, citing influences such as Little Big Town, Maren Morris and Grace Potter.

Davidson- "I've been waiting a long time to release Live Laugh Love. Jason and I connected through social media and popped this song out pretty effortlessly. I've played it live a bunch of times and was surprised how much my fans loved the song. I knew I wanted it to be the next single after my Ballads EP. I love the energy of the song- it's sassy and strong."

The country singer gives fans everything she’s got when playing numerous venues around the country. Lauren has opened shows for some of todays biggest country stars including Old Dominion, Justin Moore, Carly Pearce and more. She was named Nash FM 94.7 Nash Next Top 10 finalist this past year and recently sang the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden.

Keep your eye on Lauren Davidson as she gears up for the Official Single Release Show at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville NJ on May 17th.
