Interview with Country Singer/Songwriter, Ricky Cook

With a last name of Cook, you know we could not pass up an interview with singer/songwriter Ricky Cook! He is 100% authentic country and just released his debut single, “Thanks A Lot, Loretta!” We recently got to chat with him about cooking of course!

What was your favorite food growing up?

Gravy and biscuits

What’s your favorite ingredient to cook with?

Butter.

How do you find great meals when you are out on the road touring?

I ask the locals.

Is there anywhere you have wanted to travel or a restaurant you have always wanted to dine in that you have not yet? Or somewhere you can not wait to get back to?

I really prefer my mother’s table, but I do love this place called Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Simpsonville, KY. I think there might be one in Shelbyville. There is a really long story about this restaurant, and, of course, you can guess it has something to do with Colonel Sanders. I won’t tell the whole story, but there was a feud and some lawsuits between the Colonel and KFC along the way. This place is the only place in the world that serves Fried Chicken the way the Colonel meant it to be.

If you could be on a cooking show, which one would it be?

Paula Dean. Now I know there was some kind of controversy some time back but heck, she can’t be all that bad. She cooks with butter, y’all.

If you had to pick one food to eat every day for the rest of your life, what would that be?

Well, if I have to pick just one, ummmm, ok, well . . . it ain’t celery. I feel like I’ve got a one-track mind in this interview, but you did say every day. It’s gotta be a combination of fried chicken, biscuits and gravy. Wow, I’ll have to double my workout.

Aside from your passion for food and music, what's the one thing that really keeps you going?

Work and everyday challenges.

Who are some of your all-time favorite artists? What artists have been inspiring you and your music since day one? Who would you love to work with in the future?

Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton, Same, Same. Aren’t I simple minded.

Finally if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why?

Country Crock! Need I say more? I’d love to be the poster boy on the ‘fair circuit’ for Fried Butter. Ok, I’m kidding. That’s taking it just a little to far.

Thank you so much! You can check out more on Ricky Cook here!
