Interview with Sisters, Savvy and Mandy, on New Single, "Wild Fire," and More!

Credit: Allyson Burhoe

We love that you fabulous ladies are sisters! Did you always know growing up that you would form a singing duo one day?

We have always been very close, so when we both discovered that we shared a passion for singing, it was a no-brainer! It is so much fun to be able to work with your family.

How would you describe the sound of ‘Savvy and Mandy?’

We would describe our sound as a perfect mix of Country and Pop. We try to blend the two genres seamlessly together.

Congrats on your new new single “Wild Fire.” Can you tell us more about it?

Thank you! We feel like "Wildfire" perfectly reflects us and the sound we want to portray. The song is about a woman who is unapologetically herself. She knows what she wants and she also knows her faults. She isn't afraid to say to to someone, "If you come into my life, you may get burned by me." I think it's empowering to have that sort of self realization.

How long have you wanted to release a song like this?

We have been wanting to release a song with this vibe for a while now. We wrote it with our friends Tyler Shamy and Fabio Angelini. We have been working on our upcoming

EP with them and we absolutely love them! We feel like they totally get us and our sound, so working with them has been a dream.

So how did you each get into music? Was there always music playing around the house and in the kitchen growing up?

We have both always loved music. Our dad used to always sing and play guitar for us growing up. I think that's where our love of music stemmed from. I have always wanted to sing since I was born. I would always put on shows and sing embarrassingly in public all the time. Savvy realized a little later in life, I would say around maybe the age of 7 or 8, that she wanted to be a singer. She always loved music, but was too shy to sing for anyone. The older she got, the more she came out of her shell. Ever since then, we have never stopped singing!

You both have played with mega talented artists, who would you say are your musical influences?

Oh my gosh, we have way too many! Some of our influences include Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, Cam, Miranda Lambert, Dixie Chicks, Dan + Shay, Kacey Musgraves,

and more.

What is it that you love most about writing music?

We love to tell stories through our music. It could be something that just happened to us in our personal lives, something our friend is going through, or a crazy story we heard on the news. We love expressing those stories through songs. It's very therapeutic. Inspiration can strike at any time and once it does, the song just writes itself.

If we turned on your iPod/music device, what would be playing?

I am obsessed with Kacey Musgraves' new album, Golden Hour. I bought it on iTunes and on vinyl. I haven't stopped listening to it since it came out! She is a lyrical genius. Savvy has been crazy about Dan + Shay's new self-titled album. She won't stop singing, "Tequila," and "All To Myself." Their harmonies are out of this world incredible, and their lyrics paint such a beautiful picture.

Where do you like to hang out in Nashville?

We like to hang out all over! You can normally catch us eating in Brentwood, hanging at the Green Hills mall, or walking around Franklin. Nashville has so many awesome

cities nearby and it is fun to explore them all!

Being a Nashvillian for a few years now, what are some of your favorite dishes and where are the best places to find them?

I'm not kidding when I say this, but Nashville has too many amazing restaurants. It's so hard to pick one dish! The first one that comes to mind that you need to try is the Cajun Chicken and Waffles at Puckett's in Franklin. I have tried a lot of different chicken and waffle dishes, but none of them compare to Puckett's. The seasoning they put on it is unique and to die for. It just melts in your mouth!

Is there a place you haven't ate you have been dying to go?

We have been really wanting to go to The Catbird Seat. We have heard nothing but amazing reviews about that place. One day soon hopefully we will check it out!

Lightning Round: Ok, let’s talk about a few of your favorites in Nashville.

Favorite place for date night: Virago. Nashville doesn't have many sushi restaurants, and I love sushi. When we first moved out here, I went on a hunt for a great sushi and this place is my favorite.

Favorite neighborhood hang: The Perch in Brentwood. It's a cute little coffee shop with great crepes!

Favorite touristy place in Nashville: Downtown Franklin. We love how quaint it is! The restaurants and shopping are amazing! Also, make sure to go on a tour of the Carnton Plantation while you're there. The history in the walls of that home is something that you can't miss.

Hot Chicken: Peg Leg Porker and Hattie B's!

Honky Tonk: Honky Tonk Central, of course. It's the most famous one! It is always PACKED and such a blast.

Breakfast: Puckett's, Fido, and Holler & Dash. Nashville has AMAZING breakfast places!

What can fans expect from you for the rest of 2018?

We will be releasing a fun lyric video for "Wildfire," really soon, and our upcoming EP is coming out later in the year! We cannot wait for y'all to hear it!
