Jordana Bryant captures, inspires and relates to listeners through every musical release. The 19-year-old rising country artist uses songwriting as a tool to explore human experiences of love, heartbreak and self-discovery. Last year, the Pennsylvania native celebrated her radio debut on SiriusXM’s The Highway with “Can I Get It Back,” as well as the release of her self-titled debut EP which reached #10 on the iTunes country album charts. 2024 has been an even busier year for Bryant, which kicked off with her live support for Jordan Davis and Russell Dickerson. She’s since released frequent singles and garnered consistent social media attention. Fan favorites like “Penniless and Broke,” “Taylor For President” and “I Could See It” display Bryant’s musical range and distinct voice, as both a singer and a writer.
Bryant’s latest single “The Crash” builds on her strong suit – relatable lyricism, catchy, memorable melodies and a pristine vocal performance. The track’s hooky sound and infectious personability make it instantly replayable.
1. What was the inspiration behind "The Crash," and what do you hope listeners gain or feel when they hear it?
For me, ‘The Crash’ captures the way a breakup can shift your whole perspective—suddenly, the good memories are clouded by how things ended. I hope listeners find comfort in knowing they’re not alone in that experience and feel empowered to own their story, even when it doesn’t end the way they’d hoped.
2. What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
People might be surprised to know that I’m actually a huge homebody! While I love being on the road and performing, one of my favorite things to do when I’m not touring is to curl up with a good book. There’s something so comforting about being in your own space and getting lost in a story, and it really helps me recharge for all the adventures ahead. I think it brings a nice balance to my life and inspires a lot of the music I create!
3. Earlier this year you released your single, "I Could See It." What inspired the overall theme and sound of this song?
Writing 'I Could See It,' was all about capturing that moment when you’re on the edge of something real with someone, but neither of you have fully admitted it yet. I wanted the song’s theme and sound to reflect that fun, flirty energy, and for the track to feel like a mix of excitement and familiarity, almost like a scene from a classic love story that you can’t help but picture.
4. Did music play a big part in your life growing up? Was there always music playing in the kitchen when you were younger?
Absolutely, music was a huge part of my life growing up! My dad played guitar in a band when he was younger, so I was always surrounded by music in our home. I’d hear him strumming and it inspired me to start writing my own songs by singing along to what he was playing. He introduced me to so many incredible artists, like Shania Twain and Garth Brooks, who really shaped my love for music. Those moments in the kitchen, filled with melodies and lyrics, created a special bond between us and laid the foundation for my own musical journey.
5. Do you have a go-to playlist or favorite songs you enjoy while cooking?
Oh, for sure! I love playing Dolly Parton while I cook—her music just adds such a warm, joyful vibe to the kitchen. But now that it’s November, my Christmas playlist is definitely making its way into my cooking routine! There’s something so magical about holiday music that just makes everything feel cozier. Whether I’m baking cookies by myself or preparing a meal with my family, those festive tunes always put me in a good mood and get me excited for the season!
6. When it comes to pizza, what's your ideal combination of toppings? Do you fold your slices or eat them straight? And the big question: ranch or no ranch?
I’m all about a classic margarita pizza—it’s simple but so flavorful! I eat my slices straight; I just love enjoying the pizza as it is. And when it comes to ranch, I have to say no thanks—I’m not really a fan of ranch dressing. Give me my margarita pizza in all its glory, and I’m a happy girl!
7. What are some of your favorite activities, local restaurants, or getaways during the fall and winter months (weather permitting)?
During the fall, I absolutely love getting outdoors and hiking. There are some amazing spots around Nashville, like Cummins Falls, that are just beautiful this time of year. I also enjoy cozying up in local bookstores, like Parnassus Books, or grabbing a warm drink at a nearby coffee shop. For a little getaway, the Smoky Mountains are one of my favorite places. There are some really cute lodges there, and the hikes are stunning, especially when the leaves change colors. It’s the perfect way to soak in the beauty of the season!
8. If you could be sponsored by any food or drink brand, which one would it be, and why?
I would probably choose Hershey! I’m a huge fan of their candies, especially Reese's and KitKats—they're my absolute favorites! Plus, being from not too far away from Hershey, PA, I have such a special connection to the brand, and I love their theme park :) I think it would be so fun to share my love for their treats with everyone while also celebrating that sweet connection to my home state.
9. As we head into the holidays, what are you most looking forward to, both in terms of upcoming projects and personal experiences?
I’m really looking forward to doing some holiday shows this season, including a virtual show for those who can’t make it in person. It’s such a special time to connect with everyone and share some holiday cheer! Personally, I can’t wait to be back home in Pennsylvania for the holidays and spend quality time with my family—it means the world to me. Plus, I’ve been working on some new music that I’m really excited to share soon. I can’t reveal too much just yet, but let’s just say there’s a lot to look forward to in the new year!
