NASHVILLE BALLET CELEBRATES NATIONAL DANCE DAY JULY 27



Nashville Ballet will celebrate National Dance Day for the ninth consecutive year on Saturday, 27 with more free offerings than ever before including a free performance by students and NB2 dancers. National Dance Day will take place at Nashville Ballet’s studio at 3630 Redmon Street, Nashville, TN 37209.


The fun-filled day will feature a sample of Nashville Ballet’s regularly programmed Community Division Adult and Youth classes appropriate for all ages in honor of the American Dance Movement’s annual nationwide celebration of dance. New this year, Nashville Ballet’s celebration will also a feature a free performance by pre-professional students training in the organization’s Summer Intensive. These students, ages 16+, will captivate audiences in a demonstration of heightened talent and artistry as a result of five weeks of serious training; the showcase will feature varied repertoire with every genre from classical and contemporary ballet to flamenco and jazz.


The National Dance Day schedule is as follows:

9-10 a.m. DANCEFIX (high-energy, dance workout) for all ages

10-11 a.m. Adult Ballet and Youth Ballet

11 a.m.-noon American Dance Movement choreography

Noon-1 p.m. Summer Intensive Pre-Professional Performance


“At Nashville Ballet, we believe dance is an essential and inspiring element of our community,” Associate Artistic Director Nick Mullikin said. “National Dance Day gives us the opportunity to share that belief with others in a fun, no pressure environment. Not only can we celebrate the day with people who know us, but we hope to introduce ourselves to community members who may not have realized that Nashville Ballet offers dance classes for all ages and experience levels throughout the year.”


Attendees will receive an exclusive 50% off discount on Nashville Ballet’s Community Division Adult class packages of 10 or more classes when purchased onsite during National Dance Day. Nashville Ballet offers adult classes on a rolling basis year-round. Class packages can be used on any adult offerings, including DANCEFIX, ballet, and contemporary.

In addition to offering Community Division Adult classes, School of Nashville Ballet’s Children’s Division, Academy and Community Division Youth classes offer opportunities to dance for ages 2+ at all experience levels.


No registration is required for National Dance Day; drop-ins welcome. Participation will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Launched in 2010, National Dance Day is an annual celebration that encourages Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. American Dance Movement aims to improve and increase access to dance education in the United States.
