New Music Monday Featuring Swiss-American Singer/Songwriter, Caroline Marquard

Bree Marie Fish, Caroline Marquard

Thank you so much for chatting with us Caroline! Was there ever music playing in the kitchen growing up? Oh yes! My mom loves to cook and sing at the same time actually, so I’d always sing along with her. We’re big fans of Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, the list goes on and on.

When you think of Swiss cuisine, what's the first thing that comes to mind? Cheese! Haha We love our Swiss cheese. My favorite dish is called Raclette, which is actually melted cheese that you put over potatoes and veggies. I always love a good Swiss Bratwurst from a side of the road food stand!

What is the one place you have always dreamed of dining? A Michelin Star restaurant in Paris! I’d feel like Julia Child for the day.

What’s your recipe for the perfect Aperol Spritz? Oooh, I love this question! It’s equal parts Aperol, Prosecco, and Soda. Can’t forget a little orange slice too!

We love your “Caro-Wine Down Wednesdays!” What is your favorite wine and tell us how the idea came about for this weekly series. Aw Thanks! I really enjoy a good red wine. I decided to go live randomly one night during quarantine and just had the best time, someone watching the live came up with the name because I was drinking wine and it became a weekly thing! I’ve been having so much fun doing it.

You recently released your new single, "Never Should've Left," that you also co-wrote with Liz Rose. Tell us about the writing process and where the idea came from. Writing with Liz Rose was a dream come true. This was my first write with her and I was freaking out! I brought in the concept of the song and the melody. Liz loved it, so we ran with it!

Congratulations on your debut EP also getting ready to come out. Is there one song in particular you’re most excited about people hearing? Thank you so much! I’m really excited for people to hear a song called “Only One.” It’s super different from anything I’ve written and is just something super special.

During this time of uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic, what message do you hope this new album brings to your listeners? I hope my listeners get that it’s okay to not have everything figured out and be where you think you should be by now. Life is a marathon not a sprint. I think we can all agree that 2020 isn’t what we thought it’d be so far, but that doesn’t have to be a complete negative. I’ve been trying to find some peace within all the current uncertainty. That’s part of what my song “Train of Thought” is about too, forgiving yourself for what you think you aren’t doing right. There’s no “right” at the moment, all we can do is just get through it and try to come out okay on the other side.

What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them? Lennon Stella, her new album is so dreamy and so great to dance to as well. I love her because she’s so unique and doesn’t try to be anything she isn’t.

Finally, if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why? Evian!! I can’t live without it. Haha Maybe it’s because I’m from the Alps, but it’s my actual life line.
