WELCOME TO SWEDISH HILL

Swedish Hill is now open in Austin's Clarksville neighborhood — a bakery, deli and café open throughout the day for both locals and visitors alike. Opened by Austin restaurateurs Larry McGuire, Tom Moorman and the entire McGuire Moorman Hospitality family, Swedish Hill is an airy and light-filled destination for meals to stay or go, featuring Austin takes on gourmet deli fare, coffee and an impressive selection of wine & groceries.

ONE-STOP SHOP

Inspired by the bustling bakery delis of London, New York and California, chef Page Pressley fills the cases with smoked fish, caviar, artisanal charcuterie, colorful vegetable dishes & hearty salads. Chefs prepare made-to-order sandwiches from a red-brick pizza oven using quality local meats & cheeses. A curated grocery of house-made dried pasta, jams, olive oils, sauces, local eggs, cook’s pantry and fresh herbs line the shelves while cases of cheese and gelato are available for takeaway. The bar serves Coffee Manufactory and freshly squeezed juice by day while wines by the glass and draft beers are available through the evening. Pastry director Jen Tucker and baking director Alex Manley oversee an extensive list of pastries and hearth-baked breads and cakes, including morning buns, chewy ginger molasses cookies, lemon tartlets, sweet and savory scones and Austin's best bagels. Celebratory cakes and custom catering are also available.

SWEET THINGS

The space is broken into two distinct rooms — a classic deli & grocery area for browsing & ordering as well as a modern café room, where guests can enjoy a large square wine, beer and coffee bar or sit at intimate tables. Extensive windows allow the Austin sunshine into the dining room and deli area, with oak grocery shelving, long marble countertops and custom furniture from Garza Marfa. Outdoor tables, couches and lush landscaping surround the building including a fountain and lighting from Stan Bitters. Swedish Hill originally opened in 1975 as Sweetish Hill, known for nearly 40 years for its signature cakes, sweets and old Austin feel. As the MMH crew has done with several of their concepts in Austin, they reimagined the original Sweetish Hill, bringing an entirely new concept to the neighborhood, while preserving+honoring the bakery's Austin legacy.
