Shake, rattle & roll! Fat Kat Slim’s is coming soon to Nashville

Fat Kat Slim’s, a 50s style diner and juke joint, is coming to 730 8th Avenue South at the corner of Division Street. Owners Paul Cercone & Christopher Weber of Earnest Bar & Hideaway have partnered with Manny Hatz to bring the concept to life.

The two-story restaurant and bar will feature a sock hop inspired main floor with diner favorites and a stocked jukebox, while upstairs will be a celebration of Motown as guests overlook the Gulch and downtown from the deck. Fat Kat Slim’s will offer a nostalgic comfort food menu from Chef Larry Carlile, who also helms the kitchen at Earnest Bar & Hideaway. Diners’ interaction with staff in character will be a focus, led by industry veteran and manager Bonnie Valentine, who also will coordinate uniforms and décor.

“The 50s are a time that every generation has a connection to, and every decade since has offered a tribute,” said Weber. “You’ve got Happy Days, Grease, Back to the Future, or Pulp Fiction, and even Beverly Hills 90210 had ‘The Peach Pit.’ They’re ‘the good old days’ whether you lived them or not, and it’s impossible not to smile when you escape to that time. It would be easy to be heavy handed with the kitsch, but I think you’ll be happy with the level of nostalgia we achieve.”

Fat Kat Slim’s is expected to open in summer 2019, with more details to be announced.
