SINGER/SONGWRITER ELAH HALE PREMIERES NEW SINGLE “FOOLISH”

Today, singer/songwriter Elah Hale returns with her new single “Foolish” — a radiant and emotionally raw track spotlighting her gently stunning vocals. Released via Interscope Records, “Foolish” is the first new music this year from the 21-year-old artist, whose critically acclaimed project Room 206 landed on VICE’s list of “26 Essential Albums You Might Have Missed in 2020.”

With its silken grooves and shimmering textures, “Foolish” finds Hale reflecting on a romance gone wrong. An enormously gifted yet understated vocalist, Hale gracefully rides the line between regret and self-assurance — and ultimately cements her place in the elite echelon of songwriters capable of transforming their heartache into immediately catchy lyrics.

Born and raised in New York City, Hale got her start by playing guitar at age five and writing songs at seven, then began self-releasing her music when she was 17. While studying theater at Bard College, she expanded her creative output to include performance art and playwriting, but eventually left school to pursue her music career. Soon after signing with Interscope Records, she delivered her debut EP Room 206 —an April 2020 release praised by outlets like DJ BOOTH, who noted that Hale’s music “swings from bright and engrossing to deeply tender and heart-wrenching.”
