FREE SPIRIT

Today, Matt Kliegman, Carlos Quirarte and chef Melia Marden bring Smile To Go to the new Freehand Hotel in Flatiron. The opening marks the largest location of Smile To Go with a 50-seat cafe designed by Roman and Williams serving wholesome and seasonal Mediterranean-inspired fare alongside a selection of baked goods. The all-day cafe offers counter service as well as the vibrant takeaway and catering options for which Smile To Go is so beloved. Smile To Go Flatiron opens with breakfast and lunch to start with dinner and weekend brunch to follow.

ON THE MENU

With a new location comes a new menu. Chef Melia Marden is debuting several exclusive offerings, both savory and sweet. For breakfast, Moroccan Pancakes are served with pistachio honey, rhubarb compote and housemade ricotta along with made-to-order egg sandwiches on Black Seed Bagels. A daily rotating selection of Smile To Go's seasonal market salads and sandwiches are available for lunch, and dinner draws inspiration from Melia’s Greek heritage with dishes such as moussaka and lamb keftedes with tzatiki. Like its sister Soho and Dumbo locations, Flatiron features a robust pastry case including housemade strawberry pop tarts, gluten-free oreos, rhubarb blondies and a savory lemon, thyme and goat cheese cookie, all making their debut at the new location. A Smile To Go first, they’ll also offer a full wine, beer and cocktail list including frozen negronis and hibiscus margaritas.

POD FOR THE PEOPLE

Smile To Go Flatiron is home to SmileRadio.FM, a 350-square-foot podcast studio and radio broadcast booth also designed by Roman & Williams and outfitted with turntables and headphones by Shinola Detroit. They’ll be tapping past and present team members and friends to produce podcasts covering a range of themes, such as music and art.  Monday to Friday 7am-7pm Saturday + Sunday 8am-7pm
