Thirsty Thursday Featuring Allison Cipris

Allison Cipris is a singer/songwriter from New York who delivers her own brand of gritty, melodic country-rock. Allison has shared the stage with national touring artists such as the Gin Blossoms, Jason Mraz, Gavin DeGraw, Marshall Tucker, and Dustin Lynch and has performed all over the country at stadiums, festival stages and smaller venues alike.

Thank you for speaking with us! For newer fans, how did your passion for music and career come about? I have always been surrounded by music. Growing up, my parents exposed me to rock bands and took me to concerts at a young age. As I got older, I was a theatre kid! I started performing on stage around 6 years old and never stopped! As I got older, my interests turned to performing with bands and writing my own music. It all ties in, and I think that’s what makes me a well-rounded performer and very comfortable on stage. You recently released your new single, "Sunrise Drive," that you also co-wrote. Tell us about the writing process and where the idea came from. I write this song with another talented songwriter, Al Lama. Before our write, I drove past a street sign that read “Sunrise Drive”. I fell in love with the title and we came up with this really cool, nostalgic storyline. I’m really proud of this song, and it really gives off those end of summer vibes we are all feeling right now. Aside from singing do you play any instruments? I play guitar and some piano. Where do you draw inspiration from when writing? As a songwriter, my inspiration comes from everything around me! Some songs are inspired by personal experiences and some are inspired by people I know or things I see around me!

I think that’s the cool part of songwriting. You never know when the next idea is going to hit you!

What’s on your pizza? Do you fold your pizza or eat it straight on? Ranch or no ranch?

Ok, I’m a New Yorker so I know pizza! I love ALL pizza, but my favorite pizza is chicken parm Sicilian and (don’t laugh) the “salad slice” that has lettuce and veggies with olive oil on an amazing crust. And if you’re not folding the slice, you’re eating it wrong. Ranch? Never tried it, I’m a purist! If I was a bartender, what would you order? My all time favorite drink is vanilla vodka with diet coke. Tastes like cream soda! If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Easy. Egg drop soup and steamed Chinese dumplings. What's your favorite family recipe? My mom is a way better chef than I am. Her pepper steak recipe is pretty famous in my family and it’s the only recipe of hers I can (sort of) duplicate successfully. What should every kitchen be stocked with? Lots of coffee and flavored creamers!!

Finally, if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why? Does coffee count? I’d be a great sponsor for Dunkin’. I just might be their best customer!
