Thank you for chatting with us! For newer fans, how did your passion for music and career come about? I’ve been singing ever since I was 4 years old, but it was when I went through the darkest time of my life at just 11 years old that I realized music was my passion. My father, who was serving his second tour for “Operation Iraqi Freedom,” was killed in the line of duty. Music really became my saving grace, and it continues to comfort me to this very day.
What song that you have recorded means the most to you and why? It would definitely be “Kill The Headlights.” It was co-written by my idol, Carrie Underwood, and not only that, my dad was a fan of hers. It definitely seemed like a full circle moment when I got to record it all those years after he passed.
Is there anyone in your family that you can credit as being instrumental in your decision to go into the music field? I can honestly say that almost every single person in my family influenced me musically! Growing up, on both sides of the family I was surrounded by music constantly. Many of my aunts, uncles, and cousins can either sing or play instruments.
Do you have any pre-show rituals? Okay, hear me out, because this might sound strange… but, yes - silence! About 30 minutes before I go on stage, I go completely silent and basically talk myself through my entire set in my head. I’m such a perfectionist when it comes to my music and performing that I want to focus completely on that in those final moments.
What’s your advice for young artists trying to establish a name for themselves? Especially young females that may see you as a role model. Believe in yourself, even if you feel like no one else does! There’s no denying that this is a tough industry, but it’s so worth it when you’re doing what you love. Believing in yourself, and staying true to who you are will always make you a winner.
Was there ever music playing in the kitchen growing up? Yes, always! Either Country or Tejano music was always playing. Gotta have good music to cook good food!
What is your favorite wine? White one, Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc is my go-to.
What is your favorite breakfast? Avocado toast with an egg cooked over medium, and lots of hot sauce on top!
Best food that’s deep fried? Chicken fried chicken
Finally, if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why? Coca-Cola! It’s just so good! Nothing beats a cold can of Coca-Cola!
