Thirsty Thursday Featuring Jason Buell

Jason Buell is a powerhouse vocalist that continues to break the mold as a new artist. Born and raised in a small Northern California town didn’t stop country music singer/songwriter him from chasing a big city dream.

Jason’s love for music began at a very young age. He was 8 years old when he first heard Mel McDaniel’s “Baby’s Got Her Blue Jeans On,” memorizing every lyric. Growing up, his mom worked as a bartender at a local country bar, where artists played live music every Friday and Saturday night. “Country music has been a part of my life since I can remember," Jason explains. "My mom is also an Elvis junky and when I was a little boy, I would always try to sing like him.”

Thoughts of a music career didn’t start until after he was married and had children. Singing his first solo at church was the first time people outside of his family and friends told him, “Hey you can sing!” It was then he started believing in himself.

Jason moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he would spend the next ten years honing his craft and sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in music has been his dream. With hard work and dedication, he has opened for some of country music’s biggest stars including Thomas Rhett, Brett Eldredge, Mark Chestnutt, Phil Vassar and many more. With a sound that blends traditional country and today’s modern sound, Jason has captured the attention of the music industry.

Jason’s new single "Light Me Up" was released on August 2, 2022 and has already garnered the attention of country radio.

Thank you for talking with us! For newer fans, how did your passion for music and career come about? Growing up in a small country bar, where my mom was a bartender, I heard live music every weekend. I also sang in a church choir as a young man. My love for music has always been there. As far as career, my wife signing me up for a singing competition was really the beginning. Looking back, what was the first album or “Vinyl” you bought? I think Michael Jackson’s “Off the Wall” album and AC/DC.. I know that sounds silly, but I still love both those artists! You’ve played on a lot of stages with a lot of big artists. Is there anyone you’ve been star struck by? Ronnie Dunn! But, not from the stage – I actually met him at Walmart! I’m still starstruck! One of my biggest hero’s in Country Music…period! What do you hope people take away from your songs? First and foremost, joy! And memories. I have so many memories personally that involve music. I want my music to be that for someone. What’s the best advice you have ever gotten from another musician? Mark Chesnutt told me “don’t ever try to sound like anybody else, because you are great!” One of the nicest thing that anybody has ever said to me. He is awesome! He also told me to move to South Texas and he would put a band together for me. Wonder if he still would…

How do you drink your coffee? With French Vanilla creamer. What is your favorite sandwich? Tuna Sandwich! Best food that deep fried? Fried pickles! What should every kitchen be stocked with? Peanut Butter!

Finally, if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why? Jif Peanut Butter!! I eat at least one spoon full everyday!
