New Music Monday: Alexa Kishner Talks New Single, "Just You and Me (Remix)"

Thank you for chatting with us! For newer fans, how did your passion for music and career come about? Growing up, I have always had a huge passion for music. I have been singing since I was three years old and writing since I was ten, so the drive and motivation towards pursuing music has always been relevant in my life. As I started to write songs, I realized how much I needed and loved creating. As I started releasing my own music, I began to receive these amazing messages of people opening up about how they related to the words and melodies that I had written. The fact that these strong individuals were able to open up about their experiences because of the song is truly amazing, and I will forever be grateful to music for connecting me to these people and for allowing me to be vulnerable and real in my writing.

What was the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given about pursuing a career in music? I have received so many incredible pieces of advice throughout my career, but I think my personal favorite would be just being told to keep going. As simple as that may seem, you truly just need to keep going. Keep creating, keep loving what you do, keep pursuing your dreams.

What song that you have recorded means the most to you and why? At this moment, my latest single, "Just You and Me" means the most to me. When this song was first created, I knew I wanted to release it, but you never know if people are going to relate to the concepts and enjoy the song. The amount of positive responses and vulnerable stories I received after releasing this song made it all worth it. I got so many requests for a remix of the song, so "Just You and Me (Remix)" is available on all streaming services now!

At the end of the day, what do you hope is the message of your music? What do you hope people take away from your songs? At the end of the day, I hope that listeners understand that they are never alone. I have always strived to be real and authentic in my writing in the hopes that my lyrics will aid others going through similar experiences. Music is so special and important to me and I am grateful every day that I am able to create music and release it for the world to hear. Ultimately, I want to aid others in understanding that they are never alone and can face any obstacle that may come their way and I hope that my music can do that, even if in a small way.

Is there one song in particular you’re most excited about people hearing? I am so excited that "Just You and Me (Remix)" is finally out! I got so many messages from fans wanting to turn "Just You and Me" into a remix and we did it! I especially love this remix because I think we all deserve to let ourselves feel and then let go and just dance.

Favorite music to listen to while you cook? Definitely some Taylor Swift!

Most memorable meal while touring. Where were you and what did it involve? After one of my first NYC shows, we went to get milkshakes at a restaurant called The View, which is a a revolving rooftop restaurant. It was such a fun post-show moment. Where have you always dreamed of dining? Italy! I would absolutely love to try some authentic Italian food.

What do you think is the most important meal of the day and why? Breakfast. It sets the tone for the rest of your day and is so important!

Finally, if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why? M&Ms is a classic favorite of mine. M&Ms, if you're reading this, please sponsor me!
