Thirsty Thursday Featuring Ananda Xenia Shakti

Updated: Mar 3, 2022

Thank you so much for chatting with us! What's the story behind your album's title? I named the CD Love is Where You Are, because..... it is the chasing of love and the belief that we can lose love that happens in grose and subtle ways in humanity that is one of the most destructive root causes of all of our conflicts. All conflicts personal or global, if investigated, will lead to a place where some form of love, whether it is a self identity or a material object, feels threatened or there is a belief it has been lost The revelation that real love lives with us

where we are, always, and that we don't have to look for it, and we can't lose it, is a medicine for our times, and something that is easier for people to relate to than complex philosophy, because everybody has experienced love and the fear of losing it.

Where do you draw inspiration from when writing? I draw my inspiration from a combination of insights I receive in meditative states, life experience, and guidance that I receive for clients while in semi-trans state channeling Higher Realm Wisdom to assist people in overcoming the life patterns that obstruct them from living life with joy and meaning.

Which song off of your EP is the most dear to you and why? "Love is Where You Are" because it has such potent wisdom in it that can free radical, radiant joy and bliss, while being communicated with fun and simplicity.

You've played on a lot of stages with a lot of big artists, is there anyone you been star struck by? Joe Strummer from the Clash

What's your advice for young artists trying to establish a name for themselves? Especially young females that may see you as a role model. You are the only one who needs to love your work ! Do it for you ! Don't worry about what others think. Be your art! Don't try to fit into popular models unless they are 'real' for you. This kind of energy is attractive to others AND will make whatever you do fulfilling for you.

What's on your pizza? Do you fold your pizza or eat it straight on? Ranch or no ranch? Pesto, lots of cheese, black olives, arugula, tons of olive oil, no tomato sauce, no ranch, but more olive oil sometimes with red peppers for dipping.

What is one food that most people seem to like, but you cannot stand to eat. MUSHROOMS

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Yogurt with fresh mangoes, cacao powder, pumpkin seeds, almonds and honey.

If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, living or dead, who would they be? Mary Magdalene, Krishna, Joni Mitchell, Jesus, Vandana Shiva

Where is your favorite rite place to eat in your hometown? Fresh on Front St.

What's your favorite food on the road? Veggie burgers and sweet potato fries

Finally, if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why? Rise Kombucha. Its Authentic Kombucha, healthy, has fabulous flavours and gives you a

feeling of inspiration and joy when you drink it.

Ananda Xenia Shakti & Love Power The Band creates “Music for Body and Soul, Vibrational Healing and Celebrating the Festival of Life.”

After a successful career in the punk scene as the lead singer in an all girl band, touring with the Clash numerous times, and singing background vocals with Blondie, both in the studio and during live performances, Ananda discovered the teachings of yoga and never looked back. She took her high-spirited energy and love and directed it towards creating transformational music.

A Love Power The Band concert is a unique happening. When performed live, their songs become pieces of interactive music, where the hive that gathers for the show is given a part in the song and holds that down, dissolving the barrier between performer and audience, and handing the show over to the music and oneness. Interactive Music symbolically holds Ananda's vision of love, life and oneness. She believes we are born of the “Song of the Divine.” ”Our truest heart’s longing is to reunite with the Divine Song,’ she says. “We exist to remind each other. Remembering we can change the world and music is one of the greatest inspirations for transformation”.

Ananda receives the songs of Love Power the Band while in a semi trance state, acting as a conduit for “Higher Realm Wisdom.” She says, “The songs focus on offering blessings and inspiration to the listeners, while celebrating the innate Divinity that lives within every Soul. Love Power the Band's music asks you to sing, dance and be ready to hear cosmic truth spoken in straight talk.”

Ananda spends a good deal of time in India and incorporates the ancient language of Sanskrit into some of the healing tunes. Her vision is always focused towards merging opposites into “Oneness,”...ancient and modern, audience and band, dance and stillness, vibration and comprehension.
